Anniversary

The responsibilities of the Anniversary committee is to plan and coordinate our annual anniversary celebration.

This year, we will be celebrating 184 years of continued service and to acknowledge the fact that we have the distinction of being the oldest continuing congregation in the province of Ontario.

FBC Outreach

The First Baptist Church Outreach Committee was formed in the Winter of 1995 to help the plight of the homeless in our community.  The FBC Outreach, in partnership with the Chinese Gospel Church, for three months (December - March) to provide inner-city mission to those in need.  They also work in partnership with Outreach Agencies in the city of Toronto including several hostels and shelters, providing them with any excess clothing or food that the Outreach are unable to use.

The Chair or Co-ordinator is a member of a planning team which includes members from both churches.  He/she prepares the schedule of the people to cover the clothing distribution centre when the program is running, co-ordinates the meals to be prepared by First Baptist Church (each Church shares the meal preparation) with the groups and auxiliaries of the Church, prepares one month of the overall schedule (includes Dinner Shift, Overnight Shift and Breakfast Shift volunteers), trains volunteers when required, purchases items necessary for the clothing ministry and co-ordinates the receipts of donations, assures that the necessary funds are received to run the program for the season, prepares reports for the Board of Management and Church Quarterly Business Meetings.

History & Archives

The Black History Committee of First Baptist Church first came together under the leadership of Rev. Eustace Meade, then the pastor of the church. Over the years, the members of the committee have changed however the focus remains the same: to acknowledge, encourage and celebrate the accomplishments of African-Canadian and all people of African descent.

Each year the committee, with support from the church membership, organizes an annual Black History Day Celebration.  Held in February, this day complement and commemorates Black History Month.

Picnic

The Picnic Committee is appointed by the membership at a duly called Business Meeting.  The responsibility of this committee is to search out a location where the church family can come together for a time of fellowship and fun.  They plan and organize all activities to make it a day of fun and entertainment for all ages.
